Our Australian Designer profile is back! After a long holiday season, here we are again with our most creative partners. Let’s hear from Julie Wu from Siren Design for a piece of her mind:

Q: What animal would you turn into?

A: I’d like to say (if I’m not the human version of it already) definitely a sloth - sleep and eat all day, and no one questions ya!

Q: Which item from the McDonalds menu would you remove?

A: I’m a strong believer in “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it” – I wouldn’t want to tamper with something that’s already perfect - although I think I’d give the Chicken Big Mac the boot.

Q: How many tabs do you have open right now and what are they?

A: OK - are you ready for this extravaganza? I have the usual social media channels (Facebook, Instagram etc), Pinterest for all my DIY needs, work emails, a few travel sites for my upcoming trip to Japan, paying off a few bills, researching for some wedding venues (but can’t stay focused) and a few sneaky tabs for online shopping (but don’t tell my partner).

Q: Okay, jokes aside, how would you describe your style and what influenced it?

A: I’d describe my style as quite minimal, mixed with a good dollop of light-heartedness. My main objective is to create a space that doesn’t just look good but is as practical and functional as it can be. But I also like to throw in a little bit of humour/quirkiness here and there – being too serious makes me sweat.

Q: Where do you get your inspirations from?

A: Honestly it sounds a little cliché, but anything – anything/person/animal/event/colour – can inspire a little spark inside of me. I think that’s what I love about design - there are no boundaries. and if there is - you’re welcome to push it

Q: How do you start your morning?

A: I wake up every day at 4am, hit the gym, have a green smoothie, go for a swim and am always at least 15 minutes early for work. Haha jokes! I am definitely NOT a morning person - my morning usually starts with at least 5 alarms going off, and then it's hitting the ground running!
